Young Concert Artists seeks a proactive, organized, productive, and passionate individual ready for an entry-level job at a classical music non-profit in the heart of Manhattan. This Executive Assistant position will offer administrative support in the day-to-day activity of YCA’s President, and the numerous projects, events, and ongoing work of the YCA office. This position reports directly to YCA’s President and will also work closely with the Chief Development Officer. The individual should be comfortable working independently and people oriented with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative demeanor. The individual will regularly interact with Board members, major donors, the entire YCA staff, and the wonderful artists on the YCA roster. A background in classical music and a deep love for music is a plus!

 

This is a great opportunity for someone interested in pursuing work in arts administration and eager to gain vital experience with a legacy arts organization poised for a great next chapter. YCA recently unveiled our new Strategic Plan and is actively embarking upon several initiatives and exciting projects. We are in the early stages of an endowment campaign and will be expanding our presence to the west coast. This position will offer invaluable hands-on experience to serve as a great stepping stone for future arts administration work. You will work with Board members, help with a major endowment campaign, and work closely with the staff producing our annual auditions, concert series, Galas, fundraising activities, publicity materials, and a range of special projects.

Requirements

Job Duties

  • Support YCA’s President in scheduling, day to day operations, Board and donor work, event planning, travel, and project planning and coordination
  • Regular written and phone communication
  • Regular work in project coordination, note taking, creating follow-up tasks and timelines, and office organization
  • While there will be an emphasis on fundraising and Board work, the position will also interact with all YCA’s staff of 13 and the numerous artists on the YCA roster

 

This position will require travel around New York City and may include occasional travel outside of NYC. YCA currently operates with a hybrid model of 3-days in the office and 2-days working remotely. This individual must be able to come to the Manhattan office 3-days a week. There will be occasional work in the evenings and weekends. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in classical music preferred or 2-3 years experience as an executive assistant in the performing arts
  • Good competency with office technology – email, G-suite, calendars, Microsoft word, Slack, Asana 
  • Ability to learn new software and systems
  • Administrative experience preferred
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized, productive, and driven towards results
  • Great communication skills
  • Strong people skills and ability to work well on a team
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced environment, juggling many projects, and meeting deadlines
  • Punctuality and dependability are essential
