OPERA America, the national service organization for opera, leads and serves the entire opera community, supporting the creation, presentation and enjoyment of opera. Artistic services help opera companies and creative and performing artists to improve the quality of productions and increase the creation and presentation of North American works. Information, technical and administrative services to opera companies reflect the need for strengthened leadership among staff, trustees and volunteers. Education, audience development and community services are designed to enhance all forms of opera enjoyment. An annual revenue budget of approximately $5 million is raised through membership dues, individual donors, institutional grants and program fees, with combined endowments totaling over $10 million.
OPERA America owns and operates the National Opera Center — widely recognized as the informal headquarters and base of operations for the opera industry that serves as a catalyst for the field’s long-term health and creativity. The facility accommodates the full range of artistic activities essential to the field, including auditions, rehearsals, recordings and a range of meetings, bringing together administrators, creative artists, professionals and patrons from across the country and around the world.
