Company Overview
Pender United Methodist Church is a community of believers and seekers that has a formal members of 1,070 persons. We have two Sunday morning worship services (traditional and contemporary) with a combined attendance average of 244. Pender strives to be a faithful steward of God's gifts, and we have been blessed with a 2020 budget of $1,132215 that supports our program outreach ministries, maintenance, capital expenses for our $3.5 million facility, and our professional staff. Beyond our operating and program budget, during the 2018-2019 Faith Promise giving year, Pender provided over $311,000 in direct support to nearly 140 missionaries and agencies around our neighborhood, country, and the world to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have expanded our local outreach through an exciting new program called Pender Partners and our ongoing support for Greenbriar East Elementary School's subsidized weekend meals program.
We are a congregational family with exceptionally strong lay leadership and staff, and we work as a family in fulfilling the mission. We employ eight full-time staff: Pastor, Director of Children Ministries, Director of Youth Ministries, Director of Music, Church Treasurer/Administrator, Administrative Assistant, Facilities Manager, and an Accounting Clerk. The Music Ministry is supported by three part-time salaried employees: Organist, Pianist, Contemporary Worship Leader.
Our priorities in Mission and Ministry are: attract seekers, and new members by continuing to expand programs and to build fellowship and community among the congregation and to invite others. Local and international outreach and evangelism ministry, education, Sunday school, children and youth programs, equipping church members to perform outreach and increase participation in outreach and to continue to be good stewardship - time, talent, treasure, testimony and prayers and witness.

Benefits
Part-time position: 20 hours per week
It is expected that the person in this position will work and be physically present at church every Sunday during the calendar year, except for the four (4) Sundays available as personal leave. Sundays taken as personal leave must be requested in writing at least 3 weeks in advance and approved by the Senior Pastor. Sundays taken as personal leave will be charged to “Personal Time Off” (PTO). It is the incumbent's responsibility to make sure that a qualified substitute worship leader is provided for and coordinated with the Director of Music.
