Description
Shriver Hall Concert Series (SHCS), “Baltimore’s premiere importer of classical music talent” (The Baltimore Sun), seeks applications for the position of Box Office & Development Assistant. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position provides outstanding customer service, supports the efficient and professional operation of SHCS’s office, and assists with the successful execution of its fundraising, marketing, and strategic planning goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide excellent and knowledgeable customer service by phone, email, in person, and at events.
- Process ticket orders, exchanges, and returns, and coordinate ticketing.
- Serve as the Box Office representative at all events.
- Process donations, generate timely gift acknowledgments, and help maintain accurate constituent and donor records in SHCS’s CRM database.
- Support the preparation and execution of organizational mailings, cultivation initiatives, and donor events.
- Conduct donor and marketing research and analysis.
- Contribute to content creation for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
- Create program leaflets, program inserts, and basic digital assets.
- Collaborate in the solicitation of advertisements for the annual program book.
- Assist with student ticket outreach; help recruit students for internship, ushering, and Junior Board opportunities.
- Support the execution of the strategic plan and special projects.
- Draft and edit promotional copy and donor correspondence as needed.
- Coordinate office needs including voicemail, office supplies, expense reports, and processing of mail.
- Provide general administrative support.
- Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities may vary based on experience and/or skills brought to the position.
SHCS offers the option for hybrid work. The current hybrid work policy allows for up to two days remote per week. This position must be available to work at concerts and events in the evening and on weekends. Shriver Hall Concert Series’ offices are located at 3400 N Charles St in Baltimore City.

Founded in 1966, Shriver Hall Concert Series is one of the nation’s most respected presenters of internationally known soloists and chamber ensembles. The eight-concert Subscription Series is presented in the 915-seat Shriver Hall auditorium on The Johns Hopkins University’s Homewood Campus in Baltimore, MD. In addition, the free Discovery Series is presented in venues throughout the region, and educational and community activities are conducted throughout the year. While enjoying a close working relationship with The Johns Hopkins University, SHCS is an independent 501(c3) corporation that relies solely on ticket sales, endowment income, grants, and contributions for support, and is governed by a Board of Directors.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree, plus 0-2 years’ experience in an administrative role with arts/non-profit organization.
- Strong knowledge of classical music and standard concert practices.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in working independently and in collaboration, multi-tasking, prioritizing, executing multiple projects, and managing one’s time.
- Curiosity with ability to productively question existing systems and engage in solution-oriented thinking.
- Personal integrity and strict code of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate warmly, respectfully, and appropriately with patrons, donors, board members, vendors, advertisers, colleagues, and people of different backgrounds.
- Excellent copywriting and editing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canva (or equivalent).
- Proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
- Prior experience with customer relationship management software a plus.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds (boxes, etc).

- Minimum salary: $45,000; commensurate with experience and qualifications
